Plans have been submitted for the installation of new floating pontoons at Hartlepool Marina, aimed at enhancing water access and leisure activities.
The proposal, lodged with Hartlepool Borough Council, seeks to improve waterfront connectivity and access at Jackson’s Dock. If approved, the scheme would see the addition of 300sqm of floating pontoons on the water, complemented by a new walkway and ramp linking the pontoons to the nearby public area.
A planning statement accompanying the council’s application explains how the development will benefit current site users and contribute to the leisure services offered by the new Highlight active wellbeing hub, set to open later this year.

It said: “It is anticipated that the proposals will have a positive impact on the development of the marina as a public venue.”
Council chiefs previously said Highlight will provide “connections for water-sports, utilising Hartlepool Marina”. The application works would be undertaken as part of the “Hartlepool waterfront connectivity project”.
A decision is expected to be made on the proposals later this month.
