Two people are dead in what investigators described as an apparent murder-suicide in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Saturday.
Police were called to a unit at 582 Essex Street around 9 p.m. for a well-being check, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. When they arrived they found two people – a 32-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman – dead of gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officials say the victims were a long-term couple. They have not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

An investigation is underway by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, the Lawrence Police Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
No other details have been released.
