Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) will conduct assessment of differently abled persons from January 5 to 9 to provide special assistive devices to eligible persons in Virudhunagar district.
In a statement, Virudhunagar Collector N. O. Sukhaputra said that the camps would be organised by the District Differently Abled Welfare office at the panchayat Union offices in Arrupukottai, Srivilliputtur, Virudhunagar, Sivakasi and Rajapalayam.
People with low vision and blindness would be assessed for getting smartphones, the statement said.
People with locomotor disabilities would be assessed for their needs for motorised tricycles, wheelchairs, joysticks and those with hearing impairment would be assessed for getting digital hearing aids.
The camps will be held at Aruppukottai union office on January 5, Srivilliputtur on January 6, Virudhunagar on January 7, Sivakasi on January 8 and at Rajapalayam on January 9.
The Collector appealed to the needy people to participate in the camps for getting the benefits.
