Members of the CITU staged a protest near Theppakulam Post Office here on Sunday as part of a nationwide agitation condemning what they described as the U.S. action against Venezuela.

The protesters alleged the U.S. had carried out military aggression against a democratic republic and accused it of attempting to plunder Venezuela’s oil resources. They condemned the announcement made by former U.S. President regarding the arrest of Venezuelan President and his family and demanded that the U.S. government clarify Mr. Maduro’s status with evidence.

Raising slogans, the demonstrators urged an immediate halt to military action against Venezuela and called for respect for the sovereignty of democratically elected governments.

The protest in Tiruchi was organised by the CITU Tiruchi city district committee. State committee member S. Selvi presided over the demonstration. District vice-president Srinivasan, district president Manimaran, and leaders from the construction workers’ union, including Chandrasekar, Sivakumar, and Ramachandran, addressed the gathering and reiterated the union’s opposition to what they termed as imperialist policies of the United States.
