Cold blast with Sunday snow showers possible – NBC Boston

It seems like we can’t catch a break from the bitter cold weather here in Boston! In fact, this weekend, we’re expecting below-average temperatures once again.

Today, feels-like temperatures will rise from the single digits during the early morning to the teens and 20s this afternoon.

Snow chances on Sunday

By Sunday afternoon, many areas will feel like the low to mid 20s. A weak area of low pressure will push a few light snow showers across our region late tonight into Sunday morning.

This system could produce a coating of snow in parts of Central and Eastern Massachusetts, including Greater Boston.

Some areas could see up to an inch of snow. We’re not expecting too many problems with this system. Still, be careful while driving.

The chance for snow will largely diminish before midday Sunday. However, a flurry or two could linger around toward southeastern Mass. by Sunday afternoon.

Patriots game Sunday

If you’re heading to the Patriots/Dolphins game in Foxboro on Sunday afternoon, bundle up!

Temperatures will be in the 20s for much of the game.

Frigid start on Monday

Much colder weather pushes in late Sunday night into Monday, giving way to a frigid start to the work week. Feels-like temperatures Monday morning will be below zero in many communities, especially MetroWest! Actual high temperatures will be in the mid 20s by afternoon.

Other snow chances next week

Another quick-moving system could produce a little light snow for Greater Boston. Little to no accumulation is expected, but check back in for updates.

By Wednesday morning, another system will bring a potential wintry mix to our region. By afternoon, as temperatures warm into the 40s, the mix will transition to rain.

Talking about the 40s, we’re tracking a big warmup by the end of the week! In fact, high temperatures could rise to near 50 degrees by next Saturday.

Have a great weekend!
