Plans to open a new restaurant and takeaway in an established Blackpool hotel have been withdrawn.

Polish couple Maciej Wejdelek and Zyta Bukowska-Wejdelek were hoping to offer a new high-quality eatery from their holiday accommodation, the Brooklyn Hotel, on Wilton Parade in North Shore.

Their idea was to offer both Polish and English cuisine from the premises. They lodged a planning application with Blackpool Council in September, seeking use of part of the ground floor as a restaurant and takeaway resulting in a mixed use facility on the premises.

In their application they said: “We would like our restaurant to also incorporate a takeaway element, allowing for a delivery service (mainly).

“Currently, our hotel is licensed to permit food (breakfast and at least one meal) and alcoholic drinks service only for residents and their guests, but this proposal seeks to extend dining and takeaway options to non-residents without altering the hotel’s primary function.”

However, the latest addition to the application documents says the plans have been withdrawn.

Maciej Wejdelek confirmed this week that the application had been withdrawn but did not want to divulge further details.

Blackpool has a large and thriving Polish community and there are a number of shops, eateries and other successful businesses in the town.
