Police are appealing for witnesses after an e-bike rider racially abused a van driver at a roundabout in Gloucester.

Police said the man on the e-bike abused the other man while his vehicle was stopped at the junction.

The incident happened on the Painswick Road roundabout, towards Coney Hill, at about 4pm on Tuesday, December 23.

A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson said: “It was reported that the driver of a van was stationary at a roundabout when another man, who was riding an e-bike without any lights, approached his van and rode very close to it.

“The van driver wound his window down to speak to the e-bike rider, who then racially abused him and threatened him before riding away in the direction of Eastern Avenue.”

Police have described the rider of the e-bike as being black, aged in his late teens or early 20s, and with Afro hair.

He was wearing a black jacket, black jogging bottoms and a black scarf.

The police spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it, who has not already spoken to police.

“They would also like anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through its website, quoting incident 307 of December 23.
