Fire crews work through the night to free person from overturned vehicle

‘Police and ambulance were also in attendance’

Fire crews have been working overnight to free someone from an overturned car in Devon.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash at Tiverton.

Between 2.37am and 8.22am today, fire crews worked to free the person from the car. This was successfully done and the casualty was handed to ambulance staff.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire control received a call from the scene of a road traffic collision with someone still trapped in the vehicle in Tiverton.

“Control mobilised two fire appliances from Tiverton and a supporting officer. Once on scene, crews confirmed its was a one-vehicle road traffic collision where the car had come to rest on its roof. Police and ambulance were also in attendance.

“Crews have now released the occupant of the car using road traffic collision equipment. The occupant of the vehicle was handed over to ambulance staff on scene. The incident was handed over to the police.”
