Computer-generated images have been released to show what Bellway’s new developments at Sniperley Park will look like. The 368 properties will be built at DH1 and The Green at DH1 as part of the planned 1,900-home garden neighbourhood on the northern-western edge of Durham.

The new images show street scenes and house types that are planned are a mix of 276 properties for private sale by Bellway and Bellway’s Ashberry Homes brand, alongside 92 affordable homes. DH1 will feature two, three, four and five-bedroom properties, four of which are 19th century farm buildings already on site which will be retained and converted into new homes.

All homes will be heated by energy-efficient air source heat pumps, smart heating thermostats and EV charging points as well as all properties having either a garage or parking space with some of the homes being designated as First Homes for first time buyers. The homes are less than two miles from Durham City Centre, with the site including green open spaces and an onsite play park to appeal to families.

Bellway’s Durham division is building 189 properties under the Ashberry Homes brand at The Green at DH1, with a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes for private sale. Gillian Bell, Bellway Durham Sales Manager, said: “The Green at DH1 features lots of open space and all the homes will be heated using highly energy-efficient air source heat pumps, which is all part of making this a sustainable neighbourhood.”

More than 1,400 people have registered an interest in the developments, with an information day that was held at the Ramside Hall Hotel to showcase the plans. Emma Chesterton, Sales Director for Bellway’s North East division said: “Our information day was a great success and there is a high level of interest in these new homes as shown by the hundreds of people who have already registered to find out more.”

Two-thirds of the homes at DH1 are part of Bellway’s ‘Life’ collection which includes design features to make them more accessible and adaptable. These include step-free access, wider hallways and doorway, clear access zones around windows and beds and a more spacious downstairs cloakroom that could be converted into a shower room in the future if required.

Emma said: “The sustainable homes we are building feature the latest energy-efficient building techniques and technology. With a high proportion from our ‘Life’ collection this is an inclusive, accessible and welcoming development.”
