Hour-by-hour forecasts indicate when snow is expected to fall in Leicestershire tonight, with light snow showers predicted to begin from early evening.

The difficulty in predicting where snow will fall is shown by the slightly differing forecasts of the Met Office and BBC Weather.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office, in place from 8pm tonight (Sunday, January 4) until 11am on Monday (January 5).

According to BBC Weather, light snow showers are possible from 7pm onwards with the chance of precipitation rising throughout the evening, reaching 64 per cent by 11pm.

While the two weather apps may disagree on some of the finer details, both are united in their prediction of wintry conditions tonight.

However, the good news is that both forecasters agree Monday will be dry and cold with plenty of sunshine.

The forecast starts sunny from 11am with temperatures around 0C today (Sunday, January 4). A gentle breeze from the west north west will make it feel like -4C, according to BBC Weather.
