Kensington and Chelsea road closures in January listed plus temporary traffic light locations

TfL, Thames Water and O2 are among the authorities and businesses carrying out roadworks

A number of roads in Kensington and Chelsea are undergoing essential maintenance works in January. Cadent Energy, UK Power Networks, Thames Water and O2 are carrying out new installations or repairs in the borough this month.

Kensington and Chelsea Council (RBKC) is also kicking off a few projects. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has trawled through the list using one.network, an online directory, and found the following projects either starting in January or which are ongoing.

These works will either result in a road closure or lane closure. Others will lead to traffic controls being in place such as a temporary traffic light system, diversion or new signage.

• Gloucester Road: Lane closure from 8am, January 5 to 5pm, January 21. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Redcliffe Gardens: Lane closure between January 17 and 18. Works being carried out by Virgin Media
• Queen’s Gate: Lane closure from 8am, January 7 to 6pm, January 13. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Warwick Road: Lane closure between January 15 and 16. Works being carried out by O2
• Pavilion Road: Road closure from January 5 to January 9. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Brompton Road: Lane closure between January 12 and 13. Works being carried out by O2
• Egerton Gardens: Traffic control (stop/go boards) on January 7. Works being carried out by Virgin Media
• Stadium Street: Road closure from 9.30am, January 5, to 3pm, January 6. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Royal Hospital Road: Traffic control (two-way signals) from 8am, January 7, to 6pm, January 10. Works being carried out by UK Power Networks
• Sloane Square: Lane closure from 8am, January 12, to 5pm, February 27. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Sloane Gardens: Traffic control (two-way signals) from 8am, January 12, to 6pm, January 21. Works being carried out by UK Power Networks
• Oakley Street: Lane closure on January 7. Works being carried out by Virgin Media
• Kensington High Street: Lane closure from January 6 to January 9 and again between 10am and 3pm on January 19. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Holland Road: Lane closure between January 10 and 11. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Holland Street: Road closure from 8am, January 26, to 5pm, January 28. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Lillie Road: Traffic control (two-way signals) from December 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026. Works being carried out by UK Power Networks
• Hillgate Place: Road closure from 8am, January 12, to 5pm, January 13. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Farm Place: Road closure from 8am, January 16, to 5pm, January 17. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Notting Hill Gate: Lane closure from 9.30am to 3.30pm on January 14. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Southwell Gardens, Emperor’s Gate, Grenville Place: Road closure from 8am, January 30, to 5pm, January 31. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Bayswater Road: Lane closure from 10am to 3pm on January 15. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Denbigh Road: Road closure from 8am, January 13 to 5pm, January 14. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Tavistock Road/Tavistock Crescent and All Saints Road: Road closure from 8am, January 14, to 5pm, January 16. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Clarendon Road: Road closure from 8am, January 5, to 6pm, February 9. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Westway: Road closure from 9pm, January 9, to 5am, March 23. Works being carried out by TfL
• Barlby Road: Traffic control (two-way signals) from January 12 to January 17. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• West Cross Route: Lane closure from 10pm, January 5, to 6am, January 7. Works being carried out by TfL
• Lansdowne Road: Traffic control (give and take) from January 7 to January 10 and again from 8am, January 12, to 4pm, January 23. Works being carried out by Thames Water and RBKC
• St John’s Gardens: Traffic control (multi-way signals) between January 6 and 8. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Pembridge Road: Traffic control (two-way signals) between January 26 and 27. Works being carried out by Virgin Media
• Aubrey Walk: Road closure from 8am, January 26, to 5pm, February 1. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Ladbroke Grove: Traffic control (two-way signals) from December 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026. Works being carried out by RBKC
• Walton Street: Road closure for the night of January 7. Diversion via Draycott Avenue. Works being carried out by RBKC

• Draycott Place: Traffic control (two-way signals) until January 6. Works being carried out by Thames Water
• Grunter Road: Lane closure until January 6. Works being carried out by Cadent Gas
