A man has been charged with the murder of Dwayne Tuohey, 55, who was found in a Leeds tower block on New Year’s Day.
At 8.14am on Thursday, January 1, West Yorkshire Police received a report of suspicious circumstances outside Gargrave Court in Burmantofts. The report being that a man had allegedly attacked another man – who was lying on the floor.
Police officers attended the location and found Dwayne Tuohey with serious injuries. The 55-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later
Now, Detectives investigating Dwayne’s death have charged 51-year-old Scott Silkstone, of no fixed abode, with the 55-year-old’s murder.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating the death of a man on Thursday January 1 on Gargrave Court in Burmantofts have charged a man.
“Scott Silkstone aged 51 of no fixed abode has been charged with the murder of Dwayne Tuohey aged 55.
“Silkstone who self-defines as white British has been remanded into custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning. (Saturday 3 January.) A man and woman aged 42 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, they’ve both been released without charge.”
Previously, Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes, who was investigating the incident, said: “An incident of this nature will understandably cause concern in the local community, and an investigation is underway to establish how the deceased came to lose his life.
