Mr Lovatt’s inquest is due to open at Swann House, in Stoke, at 9.30am on Tuesday, January 6.

His death sparked a murder investigation after the alarm was raised at 9.30pm on November 12 last year.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, but nothing could be done to save him and he was sadly confirmed dead.

The police activity centred around Lindop Court. The following day, forensic officers were spotted at Lindop Court and a phone box was covered in blue sheeting on Bucknall New Road.

Staffordshire Police launched an investigation into the death and have since charged 56-year-old Barry Johnson with murder.

Johnson – who had been living in Hanley – has already appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre.
