A man has been left with “critical head injuries” following a brawl involving “multiple men” in a Scarborough suburb.
According to police, the attack involved several men on the crossroad of Longwestgate, Auborough Street, Cross Street and Friars Way in Scarborough, at around 11.15pm on Tuesday (December 30).
Paramedics rushed to the man’s home, where they found him in “critical condition” on New Year’s Day (January 1). He was taken to the hospital, where he remains fighting for his life.
Now, North Yorkshire Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to come forward “immediately” with smartphone video footage of the brawl.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating how a Scarborough man sustained “critical” head injuries during an altercation are urging witnesses and people with smartphone video footage of the incident to come forward immediately.
“It happened on the crossroad of Longwestgate, Auborough Street, Cross Street and Friars Way, at around 11.15pm on Tuesday December 30 2025. A group of men are believed to have been involved in the altercation.
“One of them, a 40-year-old local man, is currently in a “critical” condition in hospital after paramedics were alerted to his address on New Year’s Day (January 1). Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace everyone connected to the incident.
“As well as those who witnessed or have information about the altercation, we are also urging people to come forward who have taken or obtained smartphone video footage of the incident. This includes any relevant videos posted on social media or online messaging apps.
