Police have issued an update after three people were allegedly attacked at a hospital A&E. Witnesses described the scenes as a man allegedly began assaulting patients in the waiting room at Royal Bolton Hospital on Friday afternoon.

Michael Anderson, who was at the scene, said he and a nurse pinned the suspect down before security later arrived. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he alleged that an elderly man was ‘punched in the face’ before another man who tried to intervene allegedly had ‘part of their ear bitten off’.

The 34-year-old said: “My pregnant girlfriend was panicking, so I went in and tried to put [the alleged attacker] on the floor. I pulled him up off the man he was latching on to and threw him back down, got on top of him and restrained him. A male nurse came to help.

“It was honestly like a bomb had gone off afterwards. There were just people in disbelief. It was hard to grasp what had just happened.”
