A dispersal order covering part of a Derbyshire town centre has been put in place after a series of anti-social behaviour incidents.

Officers were called to numerous reports of incidents in Chesterfield involving teenagers throughout Saturday (January 3).

As a result of their behaviour, a dispersal order covering Low Pavement and surrounding streets has been put into place.

The notice began at 5pm on Saturday and lasts until 5pm on Monday, (January 5) covering the area pictured on the map below.

A message from Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: “It means local officers have the power to ask a group of two or more people to leave the dispersal area if they are committing anti-social behaviour, or if police believe they may, or are likely to, cause a nuisance to someone else.

“Anybody committing an offence who refuses this order can be arrested and fined up to £2,500 and/or receive a three-month prison sentence.

“Officers are also asking parents to ensure they know where their children are when they go out.”
