Residents of four North East areas who play the national game have won a thousand pound prize per ticket

Lucky neighbours across the North East have welcomed the start of 2026 by winning the Postcode Lottery with lucky streets in Northumberland, County Durham and Newcastle. People who live in four North East areas, who play the national game, have won a thousand pound prize per ticket.
Ahead of the new year celebrations earlier this week, postcodes in County Durham and Northumberland were picked out. On Tuesday, December 30, residents of DL5 7AB in Newton Aycliffe and NE68 7UJ just outside of Seahouses
And just two days into 2026, residents of DH9 7XD in Annfield Plain, Stanley, were given their own special treat. Meanwhile those living in Newcastle’s NE13 7DP were also lucky winners on January 2. The People’s Postcode Lottery, which raises money for charity through its subscriptions, unveils daily prizes for postcodes across the country.
A minimum of 33% from each ticket goes to charity, with players having raised more than £950 million for over 9,000 charities and good causes since 2005. The four North East Postcode Lottery winners over the New Year as well as the amounts that their prize is worth, are as follows:
- DL5 7AB – Newton Aycliffe, County Durham – £1,000 – December 30
- NE68 7UJ – Seahouses, Northumberland – £1,000 – December 30
- DH9 7XD – Annfield Plain, County Durham – £1,000 – January 2
- NE13 7DP – Brunswick Village, Newcastle – £1,000 – January 2
