Raging Celtic fans staged a front door protest against the Parkhead board today (January 3) after losing the first Old Firm game of the year, after increasing tension between die-hard fan groups and the Hoops bosses.

The Record reports that thousands of fans left the stadium early this afternoon to gather at the front doors of Celtic Park and demand the removal of the club’s directors. There were chants of “Dermot, Dermot get to f***” towards principal shareholder Dermot Desmond.

Supporters were also reportedly enraged by a handful of corporate fans who were pointing out from the Walfrid Suite window and laughing at the protestors. Fans then reacted, resulting in clashes with police as supporters tried to charge past them.

It comes as a feud between supporters and club chiefs continues to worsen this season, which resulted in Peter Lawwell quitting as chairman over abuse directed towards him and his family.

Celtic ultras group the Green Brigade currently remain locked out of the stadium on a game ban. And the 3-1 defeat to the Ibrox side, leaving Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy on the brink, has simply added to the fury.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
