New zebra crossings and speed bumps are being installed
Gloucester Road, in Kidsgrove
New zebra crossings and speed bumps are being installed outside a school. The 15-week road safety improvement works start around St John the Evangelist Catholic Academy, on Gloucester Road, in Kidsgrove, from Monday 5 January.
Other safety improvements include changes to the parking area and resurfacing. The works are being funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
Temporary traffic lights are to be installed during the works. Gloucester Road will also be completely closed over the two-week Easter holidays for resurfacing and road markings.
Staffordshire County Council is co-ordinating the work.
Councillor Patrick Allen, cabinet support member for highways, said: “This DfE-funded scheme will significantly improve safety most importantly for school students and the wider community. A new zebra crossing is an invaluable asset and while the scheme will take 15 weeks to complete, it’ll bring much-needed improvements. The road closure has been coordinated with the school Easter holiday to minimise disruption, though we’d ask people to bear with us while work takes place and thank them in advance for their patience.”
