’Siberian Beast From The East’ attacking Ireland as Met Eireann issue big snow warnings

They are growing increasingly concerned

More cold and snow could be on the way

Leading weather experts are warning of a beast from the east weather system originating in Siberia and sweeping across Europe.

This arctic start to 2026 doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon, with one expert growing increasingly concerned about the potential for a Siberian beast from the east.

The experts at SurreyPalmsWX are worried about what lies ahead from mid-January, with growing signs of “major vortex disruption.

“I am growing increasingly concerned about mid-January onwards now in regards to cold potential. There are increasing signals for a major vortex disruption and a Beast from the East/Siberian Express type scenario for Europe. That’s not to say it would extend to the UK, however!”

The country is currently under several weather warnings this weekend with temperatures dropping into minus territory. Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow Snow and Ice warning for nine counties yesterday afternoon.

All of Connacht, along with Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth were initially placed under the warning

A further status yellow nationwide warning for low temperatures and ice has also been issued for all counties in Munster, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow from 6pm this evening until 11am on Monday.
