A man is dead after an early Sunday morning crash in Harnett County.
According to the State Highway Patrol, around 2:15 a.m., troopers responded to a single-car collision at the intersection of Nursery Road and Overhills Road in Spring Lake.
Troopers determined that a Hyundai Sonata was traveling south on Nursery Road when the 22-year-old driver, Triston Amarion Pippins of Mount Pleasant, Texas, drove through a stop sign, ran off the roadway and hit a highway sign.
The car then went through the woods, struck a tree and caught on fire. Pippins died at the scene.
SHP added that speeding was a contributing factor in this fatal crash, and impairment is unknown at this time. The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
