If you ever won the lottery, then this Peterborough road may be the place you choose to live. Thorpe Road is a long road that is conveniently placed opposite green spaces for walks, but also minutes away from the city centre.
This is one of Peterborough ’s most expensive streets. The average price for homes along the road in the last year was £559,250, with some terraced properties costing £295,000.
However, there are some homes along the road that cost over £1 million. The grand homes that stand along the road are hidden behind high hedges and overarching trees.

Some of the homes are also concealed behind gates, adding to the level of sophistication along this expensive road. There are several schools nearby, including the privately-funded Peterborough School and Jack Hunt School.
Thorpe Road has proved popular with celebrities as well. Connected to Thorpe Road is Thorpe Avenue. Along that road lived Ernie Wise, who formed part of the famous comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.

Ernie lived along the road with his wife Doreen for around 16 years. It’s reported that Ernie walked down the street with Doreen before they were married and he said that he would buy them a house along the road one day.
Next door to Ernie was Canadian singer and actor Edmund Hockridge. Edmund moved to Peterborough in the 1950s.
He spent many years living in the city, until his death in 2009 at the age of 89. Opposite Thorpe Road is Thorpe Hall, a Grade I listed building set in around 59 acres of historic parkland and gardens.
The hall is used by Sue Ryder as a hospice. For anyone who wants to live amongst the richest in the city, then Thorpe Road is the place to be.
