While the reality television contender is described as a creative director on the programme, it didn’t take long for fans to uncover his profitable sideline.

The opening episode of The Traitors Season 4 launched on Thursday, January 1, unveiling 22 brand new contestants ready to dive headfirst into the show’s trademark world of deception and double-crossing – including one hopeful from Edinburgh.

Among this year’s cast is 35-year-old Matthew Hyndman, who is based in the capital. While the reality television contender is described as a creative director on the programme, it didn’t take long for fans to uncover his profitable sideline.

The player has established a unique specialty performing naked headstands in breathtaking locations and flogging the photographs to art enthusiasts. A single framed piece of his work comes in at £1,180 from gallery Bard Scotland, which presently features several of his creations, reports Wales Online.

And he’s even got a separate Instagram profile dedicated to this endeavour called @headstandmatty, which has amassed nearly 17,000 followers, though whilst appearing on The Traitors he’s operating his primary account @yermatty.

In his bio on his main profile, he gives a playful reference to his artistic work, giving the handle to his page alongside the phrase: “If you know you know.”

Before entering the castle, Matthew disclosed his plans for the prize money should he emerge victorious. The jackpot fluctuates each series, but can reach an eye-watering £120,000.

“There are many things that I’ve imagined spending the money on. I really want to buy a little cottage in The Highlands somewhere. I go up there so much, and I just kind of imagine myself there so that’s probably what I would do,” he revealed.

“Me and my partner got engaged during COVID, and I had campaigned for marriage equality in Northern Ireland – they had civil partnerships, but they never had same sex marriage until 2020. At the time I was campaigning, I didn’t think that I wanted to get married, but now I feel like I do.

“So having campaigned for marriage equality in Northern Ireland, I think that’s a better story for the last Round Table if I get there because it’s not cool to go against the gay who wants to get married! I think that I would probably say that I’m going to get married back home in Northern Ireland on my family farm. And then if I win, I might just have to do that.”

This year, an intriguing twist has been added to the game, introducing an extra Traitor whose identity remains a mystery to all players and even the viewers at home.
