Two charged with murder as 31-year-old dies after suffering ‘serious head injury’

Two men have been charged with murder. Aiden Matthews, from Stockton, died in the early hours of Saturday, January 3.

The 31-year-old passed away at the University Hospital of North Tees having been admitted with a serious head injury on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, Cleveland Police confirmed. Mr Matthews was admitted to hospital following an incident which is believed to have taken place in the area of Norton High Street around 10pm on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31.

A 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been charged with murder. Max John Cashman, 29, of Elm Tree Avenue, Stockton and Declan Moor, 20, of Centenary Crescent, Norton, are due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Saturday to face murder charges.

A woman, aged 35, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been bailed pending further enquiries, a force spokesperson added.
