A new fitness hub co-founded by TV star Steph McGovern is set to open in Newcastle. Renowned personal trainer David Fairlamb has teamed up with the broadcaster to open ClimbAhub in Jesmond.
The studio will provide high-energy, instructor-led 30-minute classes. There will be immersive lighting and music-driven sessions using exercise-friendly silent-headphone technology.
Steph decided to help David set up ClimbAhub, which will open this month, after enjoying his VersaClimber classes at his gym in North Shields, North Tyneside.

David said: “ClimbAhub is unlike anything else in the UK. You might have used a VersaClimber in your gym, but our classes are a completely new way to train, delivering a full-body workout in just 30 minutes.”
Steph said: “The disco lights, the pumping music, and the fact that you can decide what pace to take on the machines means our classes are fun and energising. David is great at adapting sessions for individual needs.

“In the five years he’s been training me, I’ve gone through all kinds of fitness phases. His sessions helped get me to the final of the Netflix show Bear Hunt, which involved swimming with sharks and being chased around a jungle by Bear Grylls.
“At the other extreme, he also helped me recover from a badly broken arm. I’m confident that people of all fitness abilities will love these sessions as much as I have.”

David’s daughter Georgia Fairlamb will be the lead instructor at the hub. She said: “I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure our ClimbAhub classes are special, empowering, achievable, and totally different from any workout people have tried before.
“We can’t wait to show people how fast, effective, and genuinely fun this workout is and hopefully build a community that thrives together.”
