Dramatic footage has emerged of firefighters tackling a blaze after a car was engulfed in flames on a busy Cornwall road this morning (Sunday, January 4).
The video shows two members of the Truro crew hosing down the vehicle as huge plumes of black smoke billow into the air.
The incident happened shortly before 10am in a layby on the A39 at Perranarworthal.
A crew from Truro Fire Station was called to battle the fire. The firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze with the help of breathing gear and two hoses. The service said the incident was left in the hands of police.
“Fire Control received multiple calls to this incident where a car was fully engulfed in fire,” Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.
“One appliance from Truro Fire Station attended and used two breathing apparatus and two hosereel to extinguish the fire. The police attended the incident for traffic management.
“The fire was extinguished and the incident was left in the hands of the police. There are no further details for this incident.”
