Woman, 66, dies after fatal Hogmanay crash in Glasgow as police issue appeal

Police are appealing for information on a car crash that resulted in the death of a 66-year-old woman.

Police are appealing for information on a car crash that took place in Shettleston at around 4.10pm on Wednesday, 31 December, 2025 that claimed the life of a 66-year-old woman.

Police were called to a report of the Hogmanay crash which involved a black Mercedes A class on Mansionhouse Drive near its junction with Croftspar Place.

Emergency services attended and the 66-year-old woman who was driving the car was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she later died on Thursday, 1 January, 2026.

Police are asking for information to help understand the full circumstances of the crash and are asking anyone who may have information, dash cam footage or if they witnessed the crash to come forward to help their investigation.

Sergeant Adnan Alam, Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash, and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this, and who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

“Similarly, any drivers in the area at the time with dash-cam footage should get in touch with us as they may be able to assist our enquiries.”
