A woman is in hospital with “potentially life-changing injuries” after a road traffic accident near Taunton. She was involved in a two-car collision on the A358 near Thornfalcon just before 1pm today (Sunday, January 4).
The road was briefly closed to allow emergency services to respond. Nobody else is believed to have been injured in the accident.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson urged witnesses to the incident to come forward. The cause of the accident is unclear at the time of writing.
“At 12.57pm we received a call about a two-car collision on the A358 near Thornfalcon,” the spokesperson said.
“Emergency services attended and the road was closed to allow them to respond. It has since reopened.
“A woman has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, but are potentially life-changing. If you witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to an officer, please call 101 using the reference number 5226002549.”
There was slow traffic in the area for about three hours after the crash. Road conditions returned to normal about 4pm.
