At least 30 rounds of shots were fired at a property dealer’s parked SUV by three armed assailants near his home in North West Delhi’s Rohini on Friday evening, police said. The incident comes days after the realtor allegedly received multiple threatening WhatsApp calls and voice messages—between December 26 and 29—from an unknown international number claiming to be a gangster, demanding Rs 3 crore as extortion.
Soon after the firing incident, the victim also received a voice message in which the sender allegedly threatened that his family would be targeted next, an officer said.
According to police, a PCR call was received around 5:30 pm on Friday at Begumpur police station reporting that three men had arrived on a motorcycle, fired shots, and fled the scene.
“No injuries were reported, though empty cartridges were found on the road. Police personnel reached the spot at Sector 24, Rohini, where a blue SUV was found with bullet marks on its front windshield,” an officer said.
The realtor told police that between December 26 and 29, a man claiming to be a ‘big gangster’ had called the car owner multiple times and demanded around Rs 3 crore as extortion. However, the realtor did not inform police about the threats at the time.
A case of extortion and firing has now been registered at Begumpur police station.
A police source said that soon after the firing, the businessman again received a voice message in which the sender allegedly stated that this time they had targeted his newly bought SUV, but next time they could target his wife and children if he did not pay the demanded money.

The source said the sender had allegedly invoked the name of the Bhau Gang, though police are yet to confirm his involvement.
Himanshu Bhau, who is suspected to be operating from the US, is wanted by the NIA (National Investigation Agency) and several state police forces, including those in Delhi and Haryana. He is allegedly involved in over a dozen murders and extortion cases, police said.
