With so much having happened and changed since then, the year 2000 may now feel like a long time ago.
It was at this point that reality TV was born and the high-tech mobile phone called Nokia 3310 was released.

2000 saw the launch of Big Brother, the opening of short-lived London landmark the Millennium Dome and the release of timeless songs like Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life.
In Bristol, the supermarket chain Somerfield still had a decade to go before it was taken over by the Co-op. Meanwhile new places were making their mark – Millennium Square, At Bristol and the huge mirror ball were all unveiled in 2000.
We looked back through our archives to find some of the most interesting snaps from the 00s, from the turn of the century all the way to the construction of Cabot Circus in 2008.
