The family of man who died in unexplained circumstances 350 miles from home in Scotland have released a new photograph as they confirm arrangements for his funeral. Kenneth “Kenny” Unsworth, from Huyton, in Merseyside, was reported missing on November 22, 2025, after last being seen leaving his home two days earlier.

Police Scotland later confirmed a man’s body was discovered at around 12.20pm on November 26 in an area off the A90 between Brechin and Laurencekirk. The body was subsequently identified as the 46-year-old.

Tributes poured in following his death, with his nephew describing him as “a lifelong Huyton lad” who was “tragically taken from us”. He added: “He was a kind, loving man that didn’t have a bad bone in his body. He didn’t deserve to go the way he did”.

Friends and relatives remembered the Liverpool fan as “harmless”, “good-hearted” and “a boss lad”, while many shared memories of happier times spent together, reports the Echo. At the time, Police Scotland said the circumstances surrounding Mr Unsworth’s death remain “unexplained” and enquiries are continuing.

A spokesperson last year said: “Around 12.20pm on Wednesday, 26 November, the body of a man was found off the A90 between Brechin and Laurencekirk. Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Kenneth Unsworth, reported missing from Merseyside, has been informed.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” Kenny’s family have now confirmed his funeral will take place on Tuesday, January 6.

A service will be held at St Agnes Church at 2.45pm, followed by a cremation at St Helens Crematorium at 4pm, with a wake afterwards at The Seel Arms in Huyton. Debbie Bennett Independent Funeral Directors said all who knew Kenny are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
