A man living in the Hillhead area of Glasgow says he was attacked by a group of “violent” young men, one of whom “charged” at his front door as he was closing it from the inside, causing it to hit him on the head. On Monday, December 19, 24-year-old Yousuf Al Abdullatif was making his way home from work when he was targeted by the group of four men dressed in all black, which he says looked to be in their early twenties.

Yousuf, who lives on Ruskin Lane in the West End told Glasgow Live: “At about 6.20pm I got to my front door and saw the group about 20 metres away. I didn’t pay much attention to them. Eventually they began walking towards me, and once I entered, I leaned against the door to lock it, and then one of them suddenly pushed my door really aggressively.

“I’m not sure if he kicked it or charged at it with his shoulder, but he pushed it and then the door hit my head.”

He shared on community platform Next Door that the group “were being very loud before deciding to randomly assault me as I was locking my door.

“One young man out of four charged at my door causing it to hit my head as I was locking it.”

He then warned his neighbours, adding: “Please beware of this group if they decide to return. They are ready to be violent without provocation. I am not meaningfully hurt, just have a headache and some shock.”

Yousuf said he was unsure if the men were attempting to get into his home, and after he was hit with the door he attempted to scare them off.

He added: “As soon as they hit my door I opened it and shouted to them, saying that he’d hit me. When they saw me, they walked away and shouted at me to go back inside and even asked what I would do about it.”

Yousuf, who moved to Glasgow six years ago from Oman, was afraid of confronting the group further since he was outnumbered. He says he has since contacted the police about the incident.

He said: “I didn’t want to let them just walk away, I wanted to confront them more but since there was four of them and I didn’t know if they had any knives, I didn’t really want to risk it.”

He says the group disappeared towards Great Western Road after the incident, and he is now waiting on police to issue any updates on their enquiries.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
